Week 10: Narratives from the Multiverse.

I have no mouth and I must scream 1968 

This story was full of descriptives, I've never seen so many in one story. I found myself just reading for those descriptions, It really helps to see the story being played out in your head. All the descriptions hit you on all levels, " tasted like boiled boar urine" yuck! I would guess the nature of a narrative short story would be to be very descriptive, and this story did. The story always kept me guess, it had a vary "weird" feel to it. I like the story it was a fun read.

Week 11: Cyberpunk

Johnny Mnemonic 

The story seemed pretty slow passed for me, I found myself a little uninterested. I can see the cyberpunk themes coming threw the story with descriptions all threw out the story. It had some interesting parts like "animal like teeth". Descriptions/ideas like this interested me the most, teeth always make things a little more weird haha. Overall its kinda what i expected to read, I wish i had more time to read a longer story, one that interested me more. 

Week 12: Diverse position Science Fiction.

Blood Child

Diverse position, that greatly defines this story in a nutshell. Many people felt this story was just "weird" and kinda "creepy". I did not really see it this way, there idea about child barring is not really any different than real life. The story was almost in your face throwing different perspectives and position about real life things. Making you take notice of things you didn't really think about before. Despite my over all feel for the story not being that weird, I did find the domestication of the humans more on the creepy side. As well as the idea of eating something like those eggs, its like eating your own fate or something creepy and weird like that haha. The humans seem to have very little control over there life's but don't even seem to really see it. In a way they have switched the human beast roles, much like gender roles threw out the story. Very interesting read.

Week 14: Satire and Sci-Fi

Firesign Theatre: I Think We're All Bozos on this Bus

This really reminded me of a video game called Fall Out. It feels vary futuristic/old with the radio and music playing, as well as the talking. I loved the adds the most, I'm not sure what it is about hearing old sounding radio adds that I like, maybe just how funny the person talking sound. It as well had a kind of creepy feel to it, with some of the weird distorted voices (because i cant see them). It however being paired with funny comments and jokes lightning up the mood right away! Overall it really did transport me right into the whole thing, with out me even really noticing it did.

Week 8, Urban Fantasy

Neil Gaiman's, The Ocean at the End of the Lane 

Gaiman always creates fantastic story's with a rich background story feel. I found this book to be almost magical. It flowed great and captured me right away as the reader. I felt very much apart of the story, completely transported to this world. Gaiman never sises to amaze me with his story's and I'm pretty sure he most be one of everyone's favorite author by now haha. All his story's I think really showcase this genre the well. There just fantastical enough that you think, "maybe maaaybbeee this could be real, maybe life could be more magical than I know". Which is a real good way to appeal to people who are a little more "realistic" thinkers. Great read as always :)

Week Nine: Space Opera

Star Wars / Star Trek
When people think of Space Opera now they think of Star Wars. Star Wars is the perfect movie to represent space opera, if not just for the music. What I love most about the first Star Wars is all the puppet/prop work, I wish they still made movie props like they used too. Star Wars is a good pick for space opera but I have always been more of a Star Trek fan. My mother is a "treky" as she likes to call her self so I watched the show a lot as a kid. I think what appeals to me more about Star Trek is the stories are always changing, this makes the world seem almost endless to me. In the end there both great "space opera's" to look at. They both make you feel like maybe another world is possible, another life and a cool one at that ;)

Shards of Honor
This is the kind of story  I think of when the topic "space opera" comes up. Honestly It was a little boring for me, I need more violence maybe haha. Overall the read wasn't bad, and i think the story set out to do what it wanted to. Make another life in another world with cool stuff and of course bring the reader into the story.
