Kiki's Delivery Service
A cute movie about the coming of age for a little girl named kiki. I remember watching this movie as a kid, I find myself going back and watching these movies for the underling meaning. Of course as a kid I had no idea what this movie was REALLY about, just thought it was a cute movie about a witch named Kiki. The way Kiki is portrayed in the movie is really refreshing, she not your old school evil green witch. This really says something about the creators of the movie.

Aunt Maria (Black Mariah) by Diana Wynne Jones
Although it took for what seems like forever for anything really to start happening in the story (although little things were peppered here and there). Aunt Maria I believe was another examples of a story without an "old school witch". Maria is a vary passive aggressive character and manipulative, and I think because of that you almost feel like its ok for her to be a jerk so to speak. This book is kinda of an examples to where i think the subject of "witches" and women in general are headed to in books, movies and art.

Suspiria dir. by Dario Argento
I as well watch Suspiria, as sujested on the sylabis. This was a crazy movie, probably the weirdest one iv ever watched (which probably isn't saying much) I have no idea what was really going on but it was interested to say the least haha.
The idea of female archetype I believe is becoming VARY popular within the last few years, I see more and more people rewriting old character (like the green face witch) and giving them new meaning. Perhaps this is only because I myself am female so i see these things more? but the way women are portrayed in horror definitely needs to be reevaluated and really redone. I believe that witches are going to be an up and coming popular them within the next few yours, I already see it now in many of my illustration classes. A bunch of students seem to be vary interested in revamping the subject of witches and female archetype in this genre, its really a great thing to see haha...pretty excited about it :)
